Resource for Grieving Children

Loss of a Loved One

One of the most beneficial things a family can do after experiencing the death of a loved one is seek additional support during their grief journey. This is especially important for children! It can be extremely therapeutic and healing for children to have a safe space to talk about their loved one, express their emotions, and meet other children who are experiencing situations similar to their own.

The WARM Place here in Fort Worth is an amazing resource for children and families following the death of a loved one. Their program offers peer support groups for children ages 3 to 18 and young adults ages 19 to 25. As children work through their grief, they share their stories and hear the stories of others with similar losses. The sharing of stories allows them to incorporate the loss, not only in their heads, but also in their hearts—and that is where healing begins.
