What Does Panic Feel Like?

Seemingly out of nowhere you feel your chest tighten, hearth palpitations or shortness of breath. You might feel unsteady, like you might faint, disconnected from the rest of the world around you. It may feel like you are completely losing control and going crazy, it can feel like you are dying. Except no one sees it... the world keeps going, moving forward without you in some weird way. When you struggle with panic, your life becomes full of fear, worried about avoiding anything that might induce another panic attach, maybe even restricting your involvement in some activities. 10 Ideas to Help Reduce Panic

  1. Bombard your senses (sour taste, change scenery, strong odor, piercing noise, slow and deep breathing

  2. Go for a walk, engage in light exercise, get your body moving

  3. Find a focus object

  4. Have an exit plan

  5. Place cold ice on your wrists

  6. Cuddle with your pet (or borrow a friends if you don't have one!)

  7. Breathe in a paper bag (yes, seriously)

  8. Repeat internal mantra

  9. Splash cold water on your face

  10. Picture your happy place
